Dream Recorder

''You were spending your days with your mac,
now you can spend your nights with it as well..."

Dream Recorder is the ideal companion of your nights, allowing you to understand better this third of our life spent in bed. Dream recollection, sleep hygiene, curiosity, you will find your own reasons for using this software of a new kind. Nights after nights, Dream Recorder keeps records of your sleep profiles. It provides statistics and give you the possibility to annotate your dream records with notes or keywords. It wakes you up at the right time, can play sounds while you dream. It records your voice automatically when you tell about your dreams. It's alarm clock can be switched off by voice.

The Sleep Profile: Dream Recorder uses the difference between successive reconstructed images for computing the quantity of motion (see image on the right). Quantity of motions are reflected by the colored bar graph. High peaks mean motions. Very low peaks are just in the detection noise base level. Dream periods are lit up by spotlights. Normal sleeps are represented by the dark blue shades. Deep sleeps have no lights nor shading. Night events are displayed under the timeline, here a dream feedback followed by a voice recording. You'll get quickly used in understanding sleep profiles.

Snorings Whistles: The Dream recorder sound processor distiguishes snorings from voice. Snorings can even launch some whistles

Sleep Statistics: Statistics are provided, extracted from your profiles, nights after nights. This feature has been added for users who want to keep trace of their sleep habit, or monitor their night recovery that happens essentially during deep sleep phases. This feature of Dream Recorder will certainly evolve in the future, as this was a strong request after version 1.

HTML, Quicktime & Text Export :All night reports of Dream recorder can be exported to HTML pages, including profiles, night events, dream notes, recordings and films. A quicktime movie of all snapshots is created by default, with time stamping. A simple text export is also available.

Using The Timeline: You may zoom in and out, and center the sleep profile graph at any moment, as for adjusting it to your usual sleep times.

The graph can also be moved right and left with a simple drag, pressing the shift key.

A simple click on the profile will display a small clock in the top right part of the screen. An image is displayed for that time if one exists.

Browsing Reports: Dream Recorder keeps all night reports in its library. Profiles statistics, notes, dream recordings, all the information is at hand and searchable. The interface layout is very similar to these of iPhoto or iTunes and you will easilly navigate. Night reports can be displayed as sleep profiles, but also as list of events, including much more information, like which camera has been used, filenames and warnings. All sleep stages are clearly tagged.

Each element has a specialized inspector, as these of voice recordings, where searchable annotations and keywords can be entered.

Sound Playing Zones: Dream Recorder only plays sounds when you wish. The dream feedback and wake-up periods can be exactly adjusted according to your needs.

Outside these time zones, Dream Recorder will remain silent. We recommend to set the dream feedback zone from 3am to 4am for a night starting at 11pm. Refrain from setting these zones over the full night.

The alarm clock will play at the end of the wake-up period if you have not stopped the recording by then.

iTunes Inside:Sounds are so personnal ... Dream Recorder may use all the sounds and music from your iTunes library, even these bought from the iTunes store. Browse your library directly from Dream Recorder in same way you would do it in iTunes. Once a track is selected, tell Dream Recorder how you wish to use it. Select one of the icons for relaxation, dream feedback or waking up.

You can also select only parts of iTunes tracks, adjust the volume individually and set how many times the sound should be played. A very handy feature !

Dream Recordings: When you just had a dream and have gently been alerted by the dream feedback sound, just tell about your dream and the application will automatically log your voice for you. You can later hear your dream again and annotate it.

Professional Video And Audio Processing: Dream Recorder has a completly smooth animated interface. Each button is designed for a relaxing user experience. Windows are smoothly fading in and out. Clicks and actions are emphasized with specially recorded sounds, very quiet. The colors are chosen for being viewed in the dark and not glaring. An interface made for sleepy users. During the night, no actions are required on the keyboard. All operations are voice controlled. Just may be the emergency stop: press the space bar for few seconds and dream Recorder will stay idle, except for the alarm clock of course :-)

Once ported to Leopard, the interface will be reviewed and take full advantage of the amazing Core Animation capabilities.
